A total of eight Proof of Concept grants have been awarded in Catalonia by the European Research Council, five of which to ICREA Research Professors, and two more to ICREA Acadèmia awardees.
Congratulations to all awardees and best of luck with their research! Here’s the complete list, with a few details. More information is available at the Host Institutions links and at the ERC PoC site here.
José Ramón Galán-Mascarós (ICREA at ICIQ): U-SPEC, a novel platform for user-friendly spectroscopy at very low temperatures and under strong magnetic fields.
Frank Koppens (ICREA at ICFO): GRAPHEALTH, hybrid quantum dot and graphene wearable sensor for systemic hemodynamics and hydration monitoring.
Ruben Martín (again, ICREA at ICIQ): OLE-DIOX, catalytic reductive carboxylation of unactivated olefins with carbon dioxide
Samuel Sanchez (ICREA at IBEC): MICROCLEANERS, active microcleaners for water remediation
Mel Slater (ICREA at UB): PSI, personified self interaction
Miquel Costas (UdG): Biologically inspired chiral oxidation catalysts for commercial applications of fine chemistry.
Xavi Ribas (again at UdG): CatalApp, Copper Catalysis Applications.
PoC (Proof of Concept) grants are funds to explore the possibilities of application of fundamental discoveries made with ERC research grants. Hence, only resarchers holding a previous ERC grant can apply to these.
Do we sound proud? Of course we are!
