Muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs) are members of the class A G proteincoupled receptor (GPCR) family and have a crucial role in both the central and peripheral 15 nervous systems (CNS, PNS) [Eglen, R. M., Overview of Muscarinic Receptor Subtypes. In Muscarinic Receptors, 2012; pp 3-28]. The group comprises five receptor subtypes denoted M1-M5, of which the odd numbered receptors are excitatory by coupling to Gq/11 while the even numbered receptors are inhibitory by predominantly coupling to Gi/o. Altogether they are involved in a widespread range of functions, regulated by their 20 endogenous ligand acetylcholine. In the CNS vital functions like learning, memory and cognitive function are controlled by mAChRs, while in the peripheral nervous system mAChRs mediate negative chronotropic and ionotropic effects, smooth muscle contraction and glandular secretions, to name only the most prominent functions [Eglen, R. M., Muscarinic Receptor Subtype Pharmacology and Physiology. 2005; pp 105-136].The present invention relates to compounds useful for the treatment of neurological disorders, to the use of said compounds and pharmaceutical composition comprising them as a medicament, in particular for the treatment and/or prevention of neurological disorders.
