Sombra, Martín

Martín Sombra earned an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of La Plata and completed his PhD at the University of Buenos Aires in 1998. He held postdoctoral positions at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in Berkeley, the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) in Princeton, and the Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu (IMJ) in Paris. He then served as a Maître de Conférences at the University of Lyon 1, as a Ramón y Cajal Researcher at the University of Barcelona (UB), and as Full Professor at the University of Bordeaux 1. He returned to Barcelona in 2009 to join ICREA as a Research Professor at UB.

He has also held visiting positions at the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) in Los Angeles, the MSRI in Berkeley, and the University of Buenos Aires. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the FoCM Society and on the Advisory Board of the MEGA conferences.
