José Antonio Garrido (ICREA @ ICN2) and Carolina Aguilar are the entrepreneurs of the biotech InBrain Neuroelectronics, a spin-off company established in 2019 and based in Barcelona. The investment was led by Imec.xpand, Belgian venture capital fund specialised in semiconductors and nanotechnology.
InBrain technology was successfully used for the first time ever in a human patient undergoing surgical resection of a gliomal tumour. InBrain sensors were able to distinguish malingnat cells from healthy tissue to guide the scalpel of the resection with unprecedented precision.
See below a couple of press releases, and click here to go to ICN2 website and find out more about the science behind this breakthrough.
