Short biography
I am ICREA Research Professor currently appointed at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). My research focuses on investigating and tailoring the internal structure of metallic alloys to optimize their sustainability and performance properties. In particular, I employ laboratory as well as advanced in-situ and operando characterization at large-scale synchrotron facilities to investigate the structure-property relationships guiding material development. I was appointed Ramón y Cajal researcher at the UPC after 12 years of international research experience in Austria and Germany; and previously, scientist at the Institute of Materials Research of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) -where I led a novel research line of alloys for 3D printing. My doctoral degree was obtained at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) where I also performed my postdoctoral activities.
