Short biography
Marc Garcia-Borràs obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Girona, where he specialized in computational chemistry. After postdoctoral research period at UCLA working in Prof. Houk lab on computational enzymatic catalysis, he returned to Girona at the Institut de Química Computacional i Catàlisi (IQCC), Universitat de Girona, first as a Juan de la Cierva Fellow, followed by a Beatriu de Pinós co-fund position and consolidating his position as a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow.
In 2026, he joined ICREA as an ICREA Research Professor at the University of Girona (UdG) and the Institut de Química Computacional i Catàlisi (IQCC), where he leads research aimed at controlling reactive intermediates and expanding the catalytic repertoire of enzymes for applications in sustainable chemistry, chemical synthesis and biotechnology.
