Short biography
Born and raised in Barcelona, Andreu Font Ribera obtained his PhD from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2011. After postdoctoral positions at the University of Zurich and at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, in 2016 he moved to University College London as a STFC Rutherford fellow, before being appointed a lecturer in 2018. He returned to Barcelona in 2020 with a Ramon y Cajal fellowship and a tenure-track position at the Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE). Font Ribera is an expert in studies of the large-scale structure of the Universe and has held leadership positions in large international collaborations like the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS, 2012-2017) or the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI, since 2017). With support from an ERC Consolidator Grant, Font Ribera is leading an ambitious program to accurately measure the expansion rate of the Universe and its growth of structure with DESI data, enabling state-of-the-art studies of the nature of dark energy.
