New methods for the detection of neuronal antibodies

PCT/EP2024/078537Neurological disorders associated with the presence of neuronal antibodies, such as autoimmune encephalitis (AE), are a new category of diseases that result from an immune attack against proteins present in the patient’s brain cells. Clinical symptoms include neurological and psychiatric manifestations that differ between patients and during disease course.The present invention belongs to the field of stem cells. In particular, the present invention provides methods for obtaining human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) derived neuronal cells which are useful for the detection of autoantibodies directed against the neuronal surface, present in patients with autoimmune neurological disorders.
