Short biography
I am an ICREA Research Professor in the Department of Humanities at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where I lead the Culture, Archaeology and Socio-Ecological Dynamics (CASEs) research group—a multidisciplinary team of 30 researchers. I also coordinate the newly established UPF Centre for Digital Humanities and hold honorary professorships at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. Since joining ICREA, I have secured over €9 million in research funding from the EU, the Spanish and Catalan governments, and private foundations such as BBVA, Palarq, and Arcadia. My previous roles include positions at the IMF-CSIC Barcelona and the University of Cambridge, where I served as an Affiliated Lecturer and Director of Studies at St. Edmund's College. I have also held visiting professorships at the University of Sheffield, the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (Japan), Seoul National University, and J. Nehru University.
