Short biography

Pablo Ballester obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB, 1986). After postdoctoral work with J. Rebek Jr. at Pittsburgh (1987) and a subsequent stay at UIB, he returned to Pittsburgh and moved to MIT (1989). From 1991 to 2002 he was Assistant/Associate Professor at UIB, serving as Secretary of the Chemistry Department, Vice‑Dean of Sciences and Head of Chemistry Studies. In 2003 he was on sabbatical at The Scripps Research Institute as Associate Research Professor and was awarded an ICREA Research Professorship. He joined ICIQ as Group Leader in 2004 and served as Vice‑Director for BIST Affairs (2016–2018). His distinctions include the 2012 Janssen‑Cilag Organic Chemistry Prize, the Chemistry Fellow Distinction (2020–2021), and election as EurASc Fellow (2021).
