Short biography
Ramon Rios was born in 1974 in Barcelona. In 2000, he got his PhD from the University of Barcelona by studying the Pauson-Khand reaction. He has enjoyed several postdoctoral and research positions with Prof. G. C. Fu (MIT, 1999), Prof. P. Walsh (University of Pennsylvania, 2001), Prof. B. List (Max Plank, 2004-2006), Prof. A. Córdova (Stockholm University, 2006-2007) and Prof. J. M. Alvarez-Pez (Granada, 2007), as well as industrial experience (J.C. Uriach S. A., 2002-2004). He began his independent career as an ICREA Researcher in 2008 at the University of Barcelona. In 2011 he was invited, as visiting Professor, at the Nagoya Institute of Technology. He is author of more than 85 papers and several chapters in chemical books, his h-index is 26 and his contributions have been cited more than 1750 times. His research interests are the development of new asymmetric methodologies and their application in total synthesis. Research interests
My research interest are focused in the development of new asymmetric organocatalytic and organometallic methodologies and in the development of new modular catalysts based in supramolecular interactions. I am also interested in the application of those methodologies in the synthesis of natural products or biologically interesting compounds. Currently, I have several collaborations with different societies and research groups that allow to test the biological activities of the compounds synthesized in order to find some privileged structures againts cancer or tropical diseases.
