Short biography
Javier Pérez-Ramírez (Benidorm, 1974) graduated in Chemical Engineering with honours at the University of Alicante, Spain (1997) and earned his PhD degree in Heterogeneous Catalysis (cum laude) at the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands (2002). He then moved to industry (2002-2005), holding several positions at Norsk Hydro and Yara International in Porsgrunn (Norway). In May 2005 he was appointed ICREA Research Professor and Group Leader at ICIQ (Tarragona, Spain). He is also part-time professor at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Javier has received several distinctions in connection with his research (AIChE Award, DOW Energy Dissertation Award, KNCV Prijs voor Katalyse, Elsevier Most Cited Author 2001-2005 Journal of Catalysis). He has co-authored over 150 scientific publications and is inventor of 8 patents, 3 of which are under industrial exploitation. Since his first publication in 1999, Javier's papers have attracted over 2600 citations. Research interests
Javier is active in the design of new or improved multifunctional materials, heterogeneous catalysts, and reactor engineering concepts devoted to sustainable eco-efficient technologies that guaranty intensified processes, improved exploitation of feedstocks and natural resources, reduction of energy usage, and minimized environmental impact. His interests cover high-temperature catalysis, environmental catalysis, solid-base catalysis, selective hydrogenations, zeolite catalysis, dynamic methods for mechanistic studies, and the synthesis and modification of hierarchical porous materials.
