Neumann G., László

ICREA Research Professor at UdG (Universitat de Girona). Technology & Engineering

I was born in 1955 in Budapest, Hungary. M.Sc. in Engineering and Mathematics, 1978 TU Budapest, Mechanical Engineering: computer tomography. PhD. 1982, Applied Mathematics: economical modeling. Publications: conference proceedings 40, journals 28, chapters in books 16, 1 book, others 52. As a head of industrial departments and projects, I led research and software development in architectural CAD, cartography, medical imaging, 3D face modeling, color harmony design. Since 1995: visiting lecturer at TU Vienna, since 2002 ICREA Research Professor. My strengths are the interdisciplinary approach, mathematical modeling and motivating people. I am member of over a dozen of IPC and other committees.

Research Interests

My research has an interdisciplinary character in the common focus of computer imagery and applied mathematics. This wide field covers image processing, color science, computer graphics, and computational photography. My profile in VICOROB at Universitat de Girona encompasses multispectral image capturing,
imaging polarimetry, narrow band imaging, de-hazing methods, furthermore image/illumination fusion techniques, large-area seamless undersea image mosaicing and HDRI tone mapping methods using gradient domain approaches. In the color research currently I am focusing on high precision radiometric calibration of digital cameras and quantitative color harmony modeling.
I am one of the founders of the internationally successful new discipline of the Computational Aesthetics.
