López de Sa, Dan

ICREA Researcher at UB (Universitat de Barcelona). Humanities

I am an ICREA Researcher at the Departament de Lògica, Història, i Filosofia de la Ciència of the Universitat de Barcelona and adjunct coordinator of LOGOS.

I recently visited Columbia University as a "José Castillejo" Visiting Scholar (2010). Before I was GenCat-Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at NYU Department of Philosophy (2006-07), Vagueness Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Arché, University of St Andrews (2004-06), Professor Associat (2002-04) and PhD Research Fellow (1998-01) at the Universitat de Barcelona.

My research is mainly in metaphysics, philosophy of language, and metaethics. I have published papers in Analysis, Mind, Noûs, Philosophers’ Imprint, Philosophical Studies, Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society, and Synthèse, among others.

Research Interests

I am interested in many contemporary issues in philosophy, in particular having to do with the phenomenon of vagueness in natural language; the context-dependence of key expressions in traditional philosophical debates in metaphysics, epistemology, and metaethics; and metaphilosophical reflection about the status of some of these debates themselves. A common theme across these seems to be: exploring real matters issuing from words, and issues where words don't really matter.
