Paula Casal joined ICREA in 2008, when she was a Reader in Moral and Political Philosophy at the University of Reading. She had been at Reading since 2004 and won Reading’s Best Research Output Prize in 2007. She was previously a lecturer at Keele University (1996-2004), and held a Fellowship in Ethics and the Professions at Harvard (1999-2000), a Keele University Junior Research Fellowship (2000-1) also at Harvard, a Hoover Fellowship at Louvain-La-Neuve (2001-2), and a Leverhulme Research Fellowship at Oxford (2002-3). She is an Associate Editor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and of Public Philosophy and a founding member and Vice-president of the Great Ape Project-Spain.

Research Interest

Her current research focuses on social and global justice, climate change and green tax reform, but she has also published on other subjects, including analytical Marxism, rational choice, procreation, multiculturalism, and animal rights, in such journals as Ethics, Journal of Political Philosophy, Isegoría and Public Affairs Quarterly.
