He is the author of Islands and Chains (2003), Linguistic Minimalism (2006), Understanding Minimalist Syntax (Wiley-Blackwell, 2007), Bare Syntax (2008), and Language in Cognition (2009), and the editor of numerous volumes. Research Interests

My current research focuses on developing new ways of advancing the emerging biolinguistic program, a growing interdisciplinary enterprise seeking to uncover the biological foundations of the human language faculty. By giving a decidedly biological orientation to theoretical linguistics, I intend to facilitate integration among disciplines, and lead to better experimental testing of theoretical hypotheses. I exploit the full pluralism characteristic of the life sciences and Complex Systems to force a rethinking of long-held assumptions in theoretical linguistics, and hope to provide a model for other domains of cognitive science.
